Duty of Employer to deduct wages for the time employee is absent

Employers have a duty to deduct wages for a period the employee absents himself from duty . Section 19 (1c) of the Employment Act provides that an employer may deduct from the wages of his employee any amount due from the employee as a contribution to any provident fund or superannuation scheme or any other scheme approved by the Commissioner for Labour to which the employee has agreed to contribute.
